Atlantic Tanning wants to assure that you get the most out of your tanning experience with us, and therefore recommends the use of skin care products to help maximize your results. Why? Because the rays emitted by indoor tanning lamps are longer, gentler and penetrate deeper than the sun’s natural rays. Tanning your skin, whether indoor or out, can dry the skin and may cause dry patches, flaking or itchy sensations. Therefore it is imperative that good skin care become part of your indoor tanning routine.

Step #1 - Accelerators
While tanning indoors 80% of the melanin supply is depleted from a tanner’s body. Overnight only 70% of the melanin may be restored, but by using a recommended Accelerator this restoration happens much quicker, thus helping to produce a nice base tan.

Step #2 - Maximizers / Intensifiers
Once you have established a base tan and you feel like you are not getting any darker, you may have reached your tanning plateau. In order to help you get over that plateau, Atlantic Tanning recommends using an amplifier or intensifier. Intensifiers allow UVB rays to penetrate the skin more effectively, allowing an even darker tan.

Intensifiers/Amplifiers today offer many choices such as cooling or tingling effects. The cooling actions works to “cool down” the effect of the warm tanning lamps, while tingling sensations occur when microcirculation of oxygen occurs causing the tingly or reddening effect, which usually subsides in 15-30 minutes.

Step #3 - Moisturizer
Atlantic Tanning recommends using a water-based moisturizer every day, whether you are tanning or not. Your skin will drink in the moisturizer and help to replenish skin cells dried by the ray’s effects. It is best to apply this water-based moisturizer when you step out of the shower, as your pores are open and ready to drink in the emollients necessary to maintain elasticity and hydration.

Atlantic Tanning offers a large choice of accelerators and water based moisturizers to make sure that you are saving time and money on tanning time.
